About
Serena Kelley is a Writer, Traveler, and Trauma-Recovery Specialist based out of Austin, TX. She was born in the notorious cult The Children of God, known for their extreme religious abuse practices of polygamy, pedophilia, forced child marriages, religious prostitution, and child trafficking.
Serena grew up as a child celebrity in the cult leadership’s inner circle and suffered severe mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical abuse. Her family and past was thrust into the spotlight forever when Berg's adopted son Ricky Rodriguez committed a murder-suicide with his former nanny. Rodriguez's other nanny was Serena's mother Sara Kelley, a prolific child abuser and cult leader. Serena left the cult at 18 and spent years living in fear of her past and family, developing mental health issues such as depression, chronic anxiety, and stress.
In 2017, Serena began a journey to heal her past, present and future by doing grief, shame, trauma, shadow work, chakra balancing, felt sense, somatic experiencing, EFT, and inner child work. She now works as a Certified Trauma Recovery and Brain Health Specialist, helping other survivors heal from their past by connecting with the mind, body, and soul to find peace, meaning, and purpose in life.
Serena Kelley’s trauma work specializes in survivors of childhood abuse, child trafficking, and extreme organized religion. She uses modalities for grief, shame, somatic experiencing, felt sense, chakra balance, shadow parts, breaking generational trauma and abuse cycles.
Serena manages blogs on trauma, healthy living, recipes, and travel. She also writes ebook guides, poetry, and children’s books.
Serena holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies with a minor in Rhetoric and Writing from the University of Texas at Austin. She also holds certifications in Trauma Recovery Coaching, Health Coaching, Brain Health Coaching, and Plant Based Nutrition. She works part-time at a horse ranch for equine mental health.
